Located in Lincolnshire, 18 miles northwest of Lincoln and 18 miles southwest of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, Gainsborough has an estimated population of 21,908. The town is renowned for its old market town, and historical attraction of Gainsborough Old Hall situated on the banks of the River Trent.
Gainsborough is well known for its popular shopping centre, Marshall’s Yard where a range of shops and restaurants and other services are available. There are often events held such as food markets, entertainment and a stop from the Coca-Cola van at Christmas!
Gainsborough is also home of the football grounds and the town comes together to support Gainsborough Trinity Football Club and attracts visitors being home to the beautiful Thonock Park Golf Club with 18-hole courses. Located just over a mile away is the European headquarters of PING. Gainsborough also now offers a place for visitors to stay with a Travelodge in the centre of the town.
A thriving market town, Gainsborough already boasts a top-class high school, transport links via the A1, motorways and airports and quality heritage assets. The town is now seeking to grow its population base to support a greater range of services, employment opportunities and a vibrant town centre.
The West Lindsey Council have secured land to build a 4-screen cinema, two retail units, a restaurant, and additional parking will be built. The exciting plans for the town are being realised thanks to the Council’s £18 million Levelling up Programme to create a Thriving Gainsborough providing plenty to see and do when visiting.
